A vision became a reality when Pulmonary Physicians opened its Sleep Center on August 21, 2004, in North Canton, Ohio. Drs. Eyad Nashawati and Nihad Boutros are Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, and eager to provide a service that is clearly needed by our community. A Sleep Center provides for testing, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and support, a significant difference from a Sleep Laboratory that provides testing only.

Sleep disorders centers and laboratories for sleep related breathing disorders seek accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) to demonstrate that they meet the highest standards of quality patient care. AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep medicine services. The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providersí display and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training. Pulmonary Physicians maintains the elite status of being accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
